About Us
Hi - I am Georgie. I live by the sea in Dorset. I am eleven years old and love using my sewing machine and learning how to create something from scratch. I taught myself how to make scrunchies online. I come from a line of Framework Knitters and perhaps this is in my blood. I use cotton, viscose, satin polyester, silk fabrics and use smaller pieces left over from the manufacture of larger pieces of clothing where possible.
G-Girl is my hobby business and I am assisted by my Mum (who never learnt how to use a sewing machine but is happy to cut material for me in the evenings). My Grandmother's steam press comes in handy too with larger pieces of material after I have pre-washed the fabric to prevent my scrunchies from dying your hair in the rain!
I also have family in Finland and have managed to rope into this adventure both my Finnish Grandmother's cousin, Liisa, and my Grandma's good friend, Pirkko, who live in Helsinki and love knitting. As a family, we love wearing their handknitted woollen socks in both winter and summer (after swimming in the cool Dorset sea). We call them our "happy socks" as the socks are warm, individual creations (taking on average, 8 hours to knit) and when we put them on, we always feel happy and cosy.
